Page history last edited by mschiller@... 3 yrs ago
Online searching is an evaluative process that you must do over and over to determine whether or not the information given to you is useful. In your attempt to find useful information, follow the steps listed below:

  • Identify the best online source of information for your topic: database or search engine.
  • Identify keywords or key phrases related to your topic.
  • Based on the results list, determine if your topic is too narrow or too broad.
  • Make certain you have correctly spelled keywords, phrases, or names.
  • Evaluate the results list or sources for accuracy and relevancy to your topic
  • Determine whether the information is readable; do you understand what is being written?

If you are having trouble locating websites or databases, ask your library media teacher for advice and suggestions.
